Dursley enjoys the 'Best of British' - On 10th July the town enjoyed the 'Best of British' at the Summer Festival. Hundreds of people of all ages came out to enjoy the day and support the town. The event was organised by Festive Dursley and Dursley Town Council.
In addition to our shops, there was a great selection of products to buy on the day at the Farmers' Market, the Cam and Dursley Creatives Craft Market and street stalls.
There was a BBQ by the Lions Club, garden cafe at the Chantry Centre and Strawberry Teas at the Tabernacle. The Rednock Swing Band and Alan Swain's Quintet played music for all to enjoy. Presenters from Edge radio also gave a live broadcast.
There was a fantastic display of classic cars and motorcycles, organised by the Rotary Club, with awards for best in show. Children took part in the 'Best of British' Trail activity and many of the town's shops decorated their windows for the event, with a competition for the best.
The Town Mayor presented awards which included the Leslie D Gale certificates and also a trophy, kindly donated by Classy Glass and Awards, for the best window display, which went to the Longfield charity shop.
Festive Dursley volunteers worked hard to put on a great family friendly event, despite the continuation of Covid restrictions which resulted in the cancellation of several planned activities.
We would like to thank all those volunteers who helped make the day happen and also the community for supporting this wonderful town event.
