We completed our Bus Shelter Art Project in June 2024
Working in collaboration with Rednock School and Cam & Dursley Creatives, the two stone bus shelters on Kingshill Road have been transformed into bright, lovely spaces for the community to admire while they wait to catch the bus!
How it all started
Unfortunately, local bus shelters are routinely targeted by offensive graffiti and often an eyesore. We wanted to improve that by funding a project which takes inspiration from similar schemes across the country.
After running a competition with the school, we selected two winning design ideas that needed to be developed further to create eye catching and professional works of art.
Create Gloucestershire helped us put a call out for a street/graffiti artist to inspire, guide and help a group of young people from Rednock School on the project.
Getting to work
Professional Street Artist, Matt Tanner, came on board and delivered a series of afterschool workshops with the help of teaching staff, designed to take students from initial design ideas and sketch work, to the creation of stencils and learning new paint techniques.
Finally, the fabulous designs, which feature an underwater theme inspired by awareness ribbons and a landscape inspired by the view from the back of the school, were created on site over the course of four days by this dedicated, talented group of students.
